THE "DALE HILL MEMORIAL AWARD"
Picture
DALE A. HILL KIA - MAY 21, 1968

Dale Hill, who was the son of Evelyn and the late Randolph Hill, played for the St. Ann church through 1959. He played for Robert And Richard Foran.
He Graduated from Fort Ann Central School in 1965.

Dale epitomized what little league is all about: not a great athlete, but a fine young man, well liked by coaches and teammates. He attended every practice,
was willing to learn, and never talked back to coaches or adults. He practiced and played his heart out. Never a star, but always an all-star in the spirit of baseball and little
league.

Dale as a member of the U.S. armed forces, was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968 at 21 years of age. Take a moment and honor PFC Dale Hill by visiting the Virtual Wall page in remembrance of PFC Hill.

The Dale Hill Memorial Award was established to be given in his memory to a graduating member of the league who best exemplifies the characteristics of
him.  The criteria is defined as follows.

  • The recipient shall be a graduating player who has been a long time participant in the league.
  • The recipient shall be a player who best demonstrates a combination of good sportsmanship, hard work, and fair play.

Based on these qualifications, we ask each major head coach to submit nominations for this award.   The FAYL board of directors will in turn
choose from these nominations, one recipient.  There will be one recipient from the softball and bas
eball divisions.
